The story
Development began in January 2021 against a brief that has not changed since: build one system that covers the whole hotel. Most products sold as a PMS stop at the front desk, so point of sale and accounting live somewhere else, and every month ends in exports, re-keying and reconciliation. We committed to making that unnecessary, and to building it properly rather than quickly.
PT Sentinel Tech Indonesia was established in April 2021 and Sentec registered as the trademark. The platform was built for the browser, and for serverless infrastructure in AWS, from the first line of code. Those decisions were taken before we had a single customer, so that no property ever needs a server in its back office and the platform grows with our customers instead of being rebuilt around them.
Building it that way also protects our customers in a way they never have to manage themselves. There is no server in the hotel to patch, back up or replace, and nothing on our side runs long enough to go stale: every environment that runs Sentec software is created fresh from the current release and discarded when its work is done. Security updates reach every property at once, and a hotel never inherits a problem from last month's system.
The accounting module was the decisive commitment. Rather than oblige every hotel to license a third-party ERP and then keep it in step, we built finance ourselves, on the same database as the operation. It was the harder road and it took longer. It also removed the reconciliation problem completely, which is exactly what we set out to do. Before Sentec software, month-end at many of our properties meant three days or more of exports and re-keying between the front desk and accounting. Now the ledger is already there when the night audit closes.
Today Sentec software runs the largest privately held hotel chain in Southeast Asia, alongside other well-respected hotel groups and industry leaders, and independent properties. The same system and the same database, whether the property is a small boutique or a large city hotel.
A hotel should not have to buy a separate accounting package, or middleware to keep it in step with the front desk. Finance is part of the platform.

The team
Much of Sentinel Tech has run a hotel front desk or closed a hotel's books. The engineers who build the system sit beside the front office and finance specialists who train each property on it, so what ships is what works on a shift, not what looked good in a demo.
Founder, CEO
Owner and operator of hotels, hostels and restaurants for two decades, and a software developer before any of that. After twenty years of using the software the industry sells to hotels, he decided the better answer was to build it.
